The some of the Amazon Firestick remotes have the ability to control certain TV functions, such as power, volume and mute. These controls are done by an infrared LED on the remote, where as the Firestick functions are done wirelessly from the remote.
When powered down, used with a different TV, or changing battery, these functions can be lost and its not entirely obvious how to reset them. If you have lost TV volume control on your Firestick remote, here’s some tips on how to fix it.
First, check the TV settings, this is done by:- Settings, Equipment Control, Manage Equipment, Change TV. The Firestick can generally detect the TV through the HDMI connection, but if it doesn’t, you can select your TV from the list.
You’d think that this would be all that’s needed, but its not. The most common problem for lack of TV volume control on the Firestick is a change to this setting:- Settings, Equipment Control, Manage Equipment, Advance Settings, Home Button. Make sure this is set to IR and HDMI-CEC, and not just HDMI-CEC.
